Hand & Neck Tattoos

Why I don’t always accepts tattoos on hands and neck.

Every so often, people come to me wanting their very first tattoo on the hands or neck. These areas are beautiful and powerful, but they’re also highly visible, there’s no way to hide them. That’s why I approach these requests with extra care.

Tattoos are forever, and placements like the hands and neck can have a big impact, not only on how you feel in your body but also on how the world responds to you. Social settings, work environments, even family dynamics. All of these can be shaped by visible tattoos. For some people, that’s exactly what they want and they’re ready for it. For others, it might feel different once the reality sets in.

As an artist, I feel a deep responsibility to make sure my clients have a positive experience and receive tattoos they’ll love for the long term. Sometimes that means suggesting an alternative placement, or waiting until someone has more experience living with tattoos before moving to such visible areas.

These conversations aren’t about saying no to someone’s ideas. They’re about opening up space to reflect, explore options, and make sure the decision truly feels right. If a hand or neck tattoo is still the path you want to walk, there will always be artists who can do that. But with me, the focus is on finding the placement and design that honors both your vision and your future self.
